Safari Overview

Mikumi is easily accessible by road, it support large number of elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, impala, waterbuck, reedbuck, warthog, yellow baboon, lion, hyena and many species. Safari in Nyerere and Mikumi National Parks is probably the only classic Safari to Southern Circuit of Tanzania and we offer you the best of it. This safari takes you to the Greater Selous Ecosystem and give you the rare chance to experience real African Wilderness in the few untouched areas of Tanzania.

Getting there

  • This tour starts and ends in Dar Es Salaam
  • This operator can help select your international flights, but you’ll have to book them yourself
  • Fly to/from Julius Nyerere Airport in Dar es Salaam
  • A transfer from and back to the airport is included
  • Additional accommodation before and at the end of the tour can be arranged for an extra cost

Day 1: Dar es salaam - Mikumi National Park

Depart at 5:30 am from Dar es Salaam via Morogoro and Chalinze with picnic lunch pack. Continue with drive to Mikumi and after 5 or 6 hours you will come across lions, elands, hartebeest, buffalos, wildebeest, giraffe, zebras, elephants, wild dogs and many species of birds. Proceeding with full day game drive, viewing at Mikumi national park you will see all species of animal and birds, Due to its Savannah plain animal at Mikumi are easily accessed and it takes only 4 to 5 hours to finish a game at Mikumi national park. Drive to your accommodation facility for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mikumi & Nyerere National Park

After breakfast and see the traditional of Maasai at 0900hrs drive to Nyerere National Park, it take 7 to 8 hours. You will have picnic lunch on the way and the journey will take about 7 hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. Meals and overnight will be at your accommodation facility.

Day 3: Game drive in Nyerere National Park

The day will be spent on game viewing in the park and at evening you will make a boat safari for 2 to 3 hours. The safari guide points out rare species of animals like the Wild Dogs. Sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile Crocodile, hippopotamus along the banks of the Rufiji river, Cape buffalo, hartebeest and Eland. Picnic lunch and drinks will be served in the wilderness before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight to the gentle grunting of the Camp. Boat Safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiasts. The Park has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment.

Day 4: Nyerere National Park then Dar es Salaam

Earl Morning breakfast at the camp and start a sunrise bush walking. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long. Usually walks leave camp at 6:00am-6:30am after having a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits or doughnut.

After walking back to the camp for breakfast you will start the drive to Dar Es Salaam.
